Animals and plants can be explored outdoors. It is important not to allow the students to touch any animals or plants while outside. Observation can be a great tool for students.

I agree, cells are a hard topic to teach but hands on activities can help students understand this topic easily. Students can create a cell out of material and label the each part. Of course, we can allow for some type of creativity as long as the concepts are right.

I have heard a lot of good advice for first year teachers.
1.Avoid negative teachers and the lounge/lunch area.
2. Every day is different, don't let what happened yesterday to affect today.
3. Not all children are the same, so expect differences in your students.
4. Not everything goes as planned, so make sure you have alternatives.
