I agree with you, teachers are not given enough time to teach science and social studies. They force them to focus so much on math and reading that the students are not being taught valuable science and social studies lessons when they are equally important. There should be more time for these two subjects.

When in comes to technology in classrooms, I don't know whether I support 100% or don't. I believe that Ipads and computers can be very beneficial, but as teacher we have to be smart in the way we use them. As a future teacher, I would also, love to keep parents involved in what is done in class, especially during science lessons. I have thought of a couple ideas to do this. When I was younger, my teacher would have me write down the weather together with my parents. Every student had to go home and together with their parents write down how the weather was for that day. Outdoor Exploration/ Experimentation Ideas Collection

Love it!

I am a big believe that when it comes to teaching science, the teacher has to learn how to balance classroom and outdoor teaching. I enjoyed looking though Scarlett’s collection because it gives numerous ideas on how we can use the outdoors to teach our students. Some teachers focus so much on textbooks and forget that a big part of teaching science is using the outdoor and any other resources to help her/him teach their students. The “Indoor-Outdoor” article was my favorite because it enforces the idea that teachers can use nature to teach students from a very young age. The article is very useful for teachers and even gives the readers pictures and specific instructions. I loved Scarlett’s collection and I will definitely use it in the future.

Oceans and Weather Collection

Great collection!

Angie has a great diversity of resources in her collection relating to the ocean and the weather. As a teacher, I would be able to use her resources to use as a guide and example to help my students. One of the things in her collection that stood out the most to me was the Ocean’s Effect on Weather and Climate. I went through the scipack and looked over a few things and was impressed on how many examples and pictures are shown in the scipack that I could use as a teacher one day. The scipack also gives an example for a science experiment that can be completed with the students. Overall, I believe that her collection was well out together and she had diverse resources. I think that she did a great job in offering us different things that we can use when doing research to teach our students about the ocean and weather and how one relates to the other.

All About Living Things Collection

Living Things

While looking through Ana’s collection, I observed that she had numerous articles and web seminars regarding living things. As a teacher, you will be able to use her articles to plan an outstanding lesson plan about living things. The articles give the teachers tips and ideas on what activities they should conduct in their classroom to teach the students. One of my favorite things on her collection was the Web Seminar, the first thing on the collection. The seminar focuses on where we can find life in different environments including other planets that we did not know there was life. The environment was successful in giving numerous resources that teachers can use to provide their students with an excellent explanation on living things. The web seminar also, provides with different ideas for teachers to do as activities to make the lesson easier and more exciting for young students. The other articles were also useful, but the seminar was my favorite and the one that provided me with the most ideas. Ana did a great job in organizing her collection and providing articles that were actually useful.
