This article argues that the 5E learning cycle needs to adapt to incorporate engineering in the Next Generation Science Standards. The two significant changes were the replacement of exploration with an engineering phase, and the addition of consideration of the two different evaluation roles that are required from students and the teacher (Lottero-Perdue et al., 2019). Then article then went into detail about a lesson that incorporated this new model. It was interesting to see how the lesson was implemented into the classroom and how she incorporated this new model. What I enjoyed the most were the visuals that were included to help me follow the lesson. In the end, this teacher re-engineered this tool to adapt to these new standards (Lottero-Perdue et al., 2019). I think it’s important to adapt to education, because it’s ever changing. If we stuck in our old ways, our new generation of learners wouldn’t be properly prepared for what’s next to come.
