This article provides an extremely detailed lesson on how the pH of water can affect its ecosystems living there. It covers multiple Next Generation Science Standards. The article also provides educational scaffolding that explains which topics must be covered before the inquiry. The article provides you with teaching strategies to use for each piece of the inquiry and how to guide students through the process. Students are to gain enough knowledge to be able to interpret a "mystery data sheet". This lets students make inferences based on prior knowledge and create claims. From this students can see the importance of having certain pH levels in certain ecosystems. Overall, I think this is an amazing lesson but in order to completed, students must have substantial background knowledge.
