I am very happy with my experience with this book. The way it is broken into sections of igneous rocks, metamorphic rocks, sedimentary rocks, cycling, history, earth cycles, etc. really helped to break such a broad topic into manageable chunks of information easy to retain. This book holds a lot of information, with many interactive elements and areas for “Review what you learned” where you can recap and refresh your memory on key elements that are important to remember from the section you are reading. I really liked the interactive elements where you could play a game that gave you an opportunity to interact with science experiments digitally and see how the different elements such as magma, basalt, or graphite reacted with different variables like pressure, heat, or cooling. It was also helpful that a “Review what you learned” was usually strategically placed following one of these interactive elements so not only were you reviewing the content from the unit but also what you observed in the digital experiments. This made the content more memorable and engaging, therefore, allowing it to be more easily retained when it came time to take the final assessment. I also really liked that there was a reader notes section beneath each page, I used this feature for the pages with a lot of information that I wanted to highlight the key points of. A suggestion I have is when reviewing the content under the review page following the final assessment some of the practice questions that reappeared from the book pages had pictures that did not load. That was the only issue that I encountered with working on this book. Overall, I recommend this book to anyone looking to learn more about rocks, the rock cycle, and how the earth is affected by rocks!
