This lesson is a great marriage of real-life analysis of a school's watershed and further analysis using the online tool, Model My Watershed. Once students have a good understanding of what a watershed is and the dynamics involved in their local watershed, they are evaluated by designing a feature that will improve their watershed by minimizing runoff. I can't wait to test this out with my freshmen Earth Science class. The possibilities seem endless and will turn a boring unit into something that is more relevant to my students.
