I think it’s a great thing that most states have the same or almost the same expectations in language literacy for speaking and listening. As teachers, we want to make sure that we are getting them to speak their own thought and making sure that they listen to you and the peers around them. I love seeing classrooms have conversations. It’s fantastic to see students asking more questions to keep the conversation going and learning new things. There are so many ways to incorporate different diversities throughout the classroom. This can be done through discussion as a whole class, videos, speakers, and other resources. This article made positive comments and went into depth on what should be done to help support the students in the classroom.
