Engineering Adaptations

This chapter shares two examples of “classic” science lessons adapted to teach science content through engineering design. It also provides some more general strategies for adapting science investigations to focus on engineering design. In the first example, the idea of moving animals across a river is an idea young students can grasp. In the second example, it was needed to model the movement of point source pollution in a watershed before they engaged in the design activity. However, that modeling made the problem clear.
