Sailing Into the Digital Era

by: Janet Bellavance and Amy Truchon
edited by: Linda Froschauer

In this activity, students transform STEM journals into E-books while integrating science, technology, and literacy. The chapter brings forward the idea of integrating iPads into the classroom. With the students’ previous experience with Engineering is Elementary (EiE), and their familiarity with journaling, the next step was to create an electronic STEM journal. It highlights a natural progression from hand-written STEM journals to students directing their own learning and using e-books to share their learning. In sum, digital journals are here to stay. A materials list, teacher background information, and outcomes are provided. This book selection includes the Table of Contents, Introduction, Reference, Internet Resource, and Index.
