This lesson asks students to explore the positive and negative factors affecting ecosystems and their impact on either an endangered species or an invasive species. Student teams first conduct research on the real-life challenges. Next, the teams design a simulation to model a selected ecosystem in the form of a board game, using information from research and data analysis. Students will model a natural working ecosystem, introducing human intervention or impact as a potential solution to the problem of either endangered species or invasive species. This lesson is best situated within a unit on ecosystems. A materials list, teacher background information, assessments, and outcomes are provided. This book selection includes the Table of Contents, Introduction, Contributors, About the Authors, References, Image Credits, and Index.
