What Are the Signs of Global Warming?

by: Page Keeley and Laura Tucker

The purpose of this assessment probe is to elicit students’ ideas about signs of global warming. The probe is designed to determine whether students think a statement is accurate or complete enough to see direct patterns or draw inferences from data that can be used to support the claim that our planet is warming, or whether more long-term data is needed to decide. This probe is best used with grades 6–12 to elicit and discuss students’ ideas about global warming and the types of evidence needed to support the claim that our planet is warming. A materials list, teacher background information, references, assessment, and outcomes are provided. This book selection includes the Table of Contents, Foreword, Preface, Acknowledgments, About the Authors, Introduction, and Index.
