Beam Bridges

edited by: Carla C. Johnson, Janet B. Walton, and Erin Peters-Burton

In this lesson, students take a closer look at beam bridges—one of the earliest forms of bridge construction—and the most common design. As they explore the basics of beam bridges, they experiment, collect data, and write functions that model the data they collect in their experiments. Finally, students use their models in a real world setting. We recommend reading Chapter 3, which is included in this book selection and provides a module overview and summary. A materials list, safety notes, standards, assessment, teacher background information, Internet resources, and references are provided. This book selection also includes the Table of Contents, About the Editors and Authors, Acknowledgments, Appendix, and Index.
