Economics and Bridges

edited by: Carla C. Johnson, Janet B. Walton, and Erin Peters-Burton

Bridges can have a major impact on the people and communities. In this lesson, students explore some of the economic impacts bridges have had in our society. In mathematics, students will be presented with four plans that describe the initial and future costs of building a bridge. They will be asked to analyze these options and determine which plan is the best choice for various periods of time. We recommend reading Chapter 3, which is included in this book selection and provides a module overview and summary. A materials list, safety notes, standards, assessment, teacher background information, Internet resources, and references are provided. This book selection also includes the Table of Contents, About the Editors and Authors, Acknowledgments, Appendix, and Index.
