The Packaging

edited by: Carla C. Johnson, Janet B. Walton, and Erin Peters-Burton

In this lesson, students continue to prepare for their Product Design Challenge by building background knowledge required to complete the project. This includes exploring three dimensional shapes, calculating surface area and volume, and learning about packaging materials and sustainability. They repurpose their product’s packaging and prepare for the marketing pitch. Students also explore the social justice issues associated with product manufacturing and packaging. We recommend reading Chapter 3, which is included in this book selection and provides a module overview and summary. A materials list, teacher background information, safety notes, standards, assessment, Internet resources, and references are provided. This book selection also includes the Table of Contents, About the Editors and Authors, Acknowledgments, Appendix, and Index.
