Where Can You Find Electric Charge?

by: Page Keeley and Rand Harrington

The purpose of this assessment probe is to elicit students’ ideas about electric charge. It is designed to determine whether students recognize that electrically charged particles are found in all matter. Its important students know that sunlight refers to the light from the Sun that reaches the Earth—not the Sun itself, the gases that make up the Sun, or Sun phenomena, such as the solar wind. The probe is best used with middle and high school students and can be used with the card sort strategy. A materials list, teacher notes, standards, assessment, safety notes, and references are provided. This book selection also includes the Table of Contents, Preface, Acknowledgments, About the Authors, Introduction, and Index.
