by: Page Keeley and Rand Harrington

The purpose of this assessment probe is to elicit students’ ideas about magnetic materials. The probe is designed to find out which types of materials students think interact with magnets and whether they think all metals interact with magnets. This probe is best used with elementary and middle school students. Additional metals can be added to the list for high school students. A materials list, teacher notes, standards, assessment, safety notes, and references are provided. This book selection also includes the Table of Contents, Preface, Acknowledgments, About the Authors, Introduction, and Index.
