by: Eric Brunsell, Deb M. Kneser, and Kevin J. Niemi

This chapter provides a series of activities to help science teachers understand the three dimensions of the Framework for K–12 Science Education—science and engineering practices, crosscutting concepts, and disciplinary core ideas—and how they are integrated in the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS). Activities in this chapter also build connections between the science and engineering practices, science inquiry, and engineering design. Teacher background information, standards, and references are provided. This book selection also includes the Table of Contents, About the Authors, Contributors, A Letter from David L. Evans, Introduction, and Index.
