Our Natural Hazard Preparedness Plans

edited by: Carla C. Johnson, Janet B. Walton, and Erin Peters-Burton

In this lesson, students work in teams to demonstrate their understanding of the impacts of natural hazards by creating preparedness plans describing how people and communities can prepare. Student teams also create public service announcements (PSAs) to communicate their preparedness plans. We recommend reading Chapter 3, which is included in this book selection and provides a Module overview and summary. A list of materials, teacher background information, safety notes, standards, assessments, suggested books, and Internet resources are provided. This book selection also includes the Table of Contents, About the Editors and Authors, Acknowledgments, Appendix B, and Index.
