Archive: Mineral Resources for our Future, October 16, 2025

Science Update logoCritical minerals have been all over the news lately.  While we may be familiar with the mining of copper, coal, and gold, emerging resources like lithium, rare earth elements, cobalt, and more have driven the search for a new generation of critical minerals for a sustainable future.  As we celebrate Earth Week, we will learn what these key resources are used for, where they can be found, and contemplate some of the environmental and geopolitical issues surrounding them.

All individuals receive a certificate of participation and 100 NSTA activity points for attending the live seminar and completing the end-of-program survey. A certificate of participation is not awarded for watching the recorded version of the program.

We invite you to register for upcoming web seminars at NSTA.

Below are comments from individuals who attended the seminar:

  • "I found the real life application the most interesting. Sometimes teaching minerals seems boring to students but the direct application to their lives can spark their intrigue, especially because a majority of my students are from Ukraine."
  • "Outstanding presentation on a very timely subject. The presenter's enthusiasm made it a wonderful seminar to attend."
  • "Thank you so much for consistently providing quality webinars with experts in the particular fields. This is so critical in that it offers classroom teachers the opportunities to interact directly with the experts and then share their experiences and the information with our students."

A certificate of attendance was deposited into participants' account page for completing the evaluation form at the end of the program.
