After reading this chapter, I've decided I must buy the book! The author makes the case for using nature to teach reading and writing skills and includes numerous trade books are suggested for incorporating nature into language arts. Nearly a dozen activities that engage students in reading, writing, and poetry are included, along with student worksheets. Each activity features a well-written teacher plan that addresses everything you'll need to know to make the lesson a success. Although some of the lessons would be greatly enhanced by utilizing the great outdoors, all lessons can be conducted within the classroom. The lessons are perfect for young or struggling writers.
