This chapter from the book “Rise and Shine: A Practical Guide for the Beginning Science Teacher” contains several examples of excellent teaching strategies to use in science. Using excerpts from a regular column in one of the NSTA journals, the authors provide several ideas for presenting science material to students. I was particularly impressed with the section that outlined Carol Tomlinson’s 5 key strategies for differentiating instruction. The comprehensive collections of resources, located at the end of the chapter, are an additional GIFT! They are grouped by headings like ‘Notebooking’, ‘Misconceptions’, and ‘Rubrics’. After reading this chapter, I can’t wait to get the whole book!
