Kitchen Chemistry

by: Christine Anne Royce

The kitchen is a wondrous place for children to make observations and explore the basics of chemistry. Seize the opportunity and help students build process skills while cooking or baking. Almost everything we eat and certainly everything that is combined in the kitchen has some basis in the physical sciences—from mixtures to solutions to the glorious tastes of food. In this chapter, the activities challenge students to make observations about physical and chemical changes as well as acids and bases.
