Attending a science institute in the summer is a good way to augment your knowledge and teaching skills. This article describes a summer institute whose purpose was to have elementary teachers learn more about Earth and environmental science as well as enhance science teaching. The authors describe their experience and what developed out of that experience that improved their teaching and students curiosity about science.

This article highlights three different types of questions that can be asked in the classroom. After attending a summer institute, teachers were tasked with redesigning a unit of study in their classroom. The article outlines how they imbedded different questioning strategies into their redesigned units. I liked the schema statement-I think it would help students organize their thinking and relate it to prior background knowledge.
