This article provides a student’s hands-on activity with a mirror to build on a student’s understanding of geometry and angles as well as the science involved. Students learn about reflections, symmetry and refraction. At the end of the activity students not only build on their scientific understanding of the concepts of reflection and refraction but also strengthen their understanding of abstract geometry.

The activities are engaging for kids and provide strong support for both Math and Science. Refraction is a mystery to kids that unfolds almost magically as the students' progress through each of the investigations. Using the laser light provided for lots of discussion when the light didn't behave the way they thought it would. This was an activity well worth the class time invested.
