This is a great resource, not only for teaching and assessing inquiry, but argumentation. With the increased emphasis on argumentation, and teaching argumentation in the NGSS, this will really come in handy as we reconsider our classrooms in light of new (or modified) requirements.

The article refers to assessment of Inquiry, and that is probably accurate if students are well trained in the inquiry process and the only assessment necessary is in the final products. This article focuses on assessing how students interpret data and use it to form claims with evidence and develop models and theories. It is important information for developing inquiry experiences that are true learning experiences, although I feel that steps like developing inquiry processes, safe classroom environment with teaching students how to communicate using respect, final artifacts and rubricsfor summative assessments. Worthwhile reading with that in mind.
