The author outlines her steps for successfully using learning stations in her classroom. The learning stations she describes are very similar to what many primary teachers refer to as "centers". If you are new to this type of instructional model in the classroom, this article provides a lot of good tips for the management of this type of set up as well as what types of activities work well in this environment. I liked her idea of having books available at every station for students who finish early. She also advocates the use of journals instead of worksheets so students are able to record more detail. I think if you are going to have students journal, you need to make sure you have spent time in class devoted to what things to include in a good journal entry so your students are making meaning of what they are experiencing.
