The authors provide justification for using word walls in upper grades and how to connect the terminology to semantic mapping. What a good idea! And, more importantly, they provide a variety of strategies teachers can use to make the word walls, especially in limited space. They also address the question of what do you do when you have more than one class and how to set up word walls with student assistance which I thought was nice to see. I would recommend this article to any secondary teacher looking for ways to integrate word walls with multiple classes. I would also suggest that some elementary teachers might be interested in integrating the semiotic mapping components.
