This article is an excellent resource for teachers looking for curricular links between science and math. The article begins by relating how math practices can be integrated into the Science and Engineering practices outline in the NGSS. The article address problem solving, modeling, and argumentation while providing concrete examples of each area. I found this article to be very helpful in my quest to find ways to implement the NGSS standards into my lesson planning.

This article points out the goal of the Science Framework to not only make students scientifically literate but mathematically proficient. Throw into the mix the Common Core standards for mathematics and now students must be able to “apply the mathematics they know to solve problems arising in everyday life, society, and the workplace.” Embedded in this article is a chart that shows the alignment between mathematical practices and scientific and engineering practices. There is so much more in this article that it is well worth reading. Mathematics is the language of science and educators must know how best to apply it.
