This article explains a two part inquiry activity that shows students the relationship between amylase and digestion of starch in a biology class. These activities engages the 7E learning process in which the two steps of eliciting information and extending knowledge is included in the tradition 5E method. All aspects of the 7E model of learning are presented in the article. I particularly like the part where students are asked what worked and what didn’t work and why. A more complete example of this activity is provided in a website as well. While the activity is not too difficult to follow, the use of the 7E method makes this article worth reading.
