Since radio signals from astronomical sources are very weak and the use of cell phone towers and satellites often mask these signals or produce interference that can shroud the signal. This project encourages high school students to collect and analyze radio frequency interference (RFI) data to determine RFI levels in their communities. Students make the connection between real world activities and astronomy. The curriculum was developed with the help of several governmental agencies. Students not only collect data but they come to a consensus about what they learned. They also learned what real scientists do.
