This article describes a program called OceanInsight which provides students who are visually impaired with an interactive way to study oceanography. Through the help of a legally blind scientist at Woods Hole, MA, these students learn about oceanography and attend field trips to Woods Hole as well as visits from the scientist. This article describes the special tools provided to the students such as screen reader, screen magnifier that assist students to better understand what they are learning. This interesting collaboration allows students to overcome their disabilities.

The author presents information on a collaboration between a school for the visually impaired and WHOI, and specifically a researcher at Woods Hole Oceanography Labs who has been legally blind for some time. The project is interesting and the student involvement and discussions provide ideas for ways to involve the visually impaired. However the website has not been kept up. Data from the buoys is located there for student use. And the information on adaptations that could be used with visually impaired students and example of how these are used in the project provide information for those who might be researching this topic.
