The teachers at this school with their students have created their own dino dig. In the process of "unearthing" their discoveries students practice journaling, art, and math skills as well as science. While the space may be a problem, we can't all dig up our school yards, I know of teachers who have set up similar "digs" in plastic swimming pools. A state school with a veterinary program has also been known to donate entire skeletons for this sort of thing. Wonderful authentic way to make science (and other subjects) an interesting learning experience!

This article gives great ideas about doing a dinosaur dig with students. I did the same thing in elementary school and it was an experience I will never forget! This activity is very hands-on and engaging and a great way to get students to learn about fossils!
