Slurper Balls will most certainly have the attention and engagement of students. The article provides excellent instructions on how to make the slurper balls. I appreciate the fact the balls continuing growing over time, providing students with the opportunity to mass, measure and record data over several days. The graphing opportunities for the students make this lab really meaningful. This lab is easily used at the middle school and can be extended to the high school level. Most of the materials required are readily available in most Science labs, the liquid latex comes with allergy warnings, and the sodium polyacrylate powder are available through chemical supply catalogues for a little than $60.00 for 5 classes of 30 students.

This is a great activity that will surely engage middle school chemistry students as they make slurper balls.
