Science Sampler: On the shoulders of giants

To help students understand that what they learn in science class is the product of the hard work of those who have come before them, and to encourage them to be future contributors to our understanding of how nature works, the author developed The Great Scientist Project. This project familiarizes students with the lives and accomplishments of the men and women who have made significant contributions to science. In addition, it fulfills the National Science Education Standards requirement for students to understand science as a human endeavor, the nature of science, and the history of science.
