This article addressed that there is a need for more girls to be interested in STEM career fields. I agree that many girls often do not find science as a potential field to go into. Bringing women scientists in as guest speakers can be the motivation girls need to become scientists.

This article describes an overnight weekend camp, known as ‘Girls in Science Rule!’ created for girls entering sixth grade who want to learn science and explore science-related fields. The author feels that this age group is critical to developing positive attitudes to girls and science. This experience occurred in a woody area owned by a local university. Students learned to use field equipment, how to collect and identify nature related specimens, and trail safety and skills. This article might provide further ideas for other groups in different parts of the country.
