This is a great article to see how using data can be turned into a class project. Which allow students to ask and answer questions related to data in order to read and interpret data. The article also give two great lessons to give support and show how fun using data can be. Especially, giving students the opportunity to make discoveries on their own.

The two books mentioned in this review would be very helpful to help illustrate to students how data is collected and why and how it is displayed. The two accompanying lessons have students involved in the collection of their own data which is important for student ownership. I like that students are evaluating each other's graphs in both grade level lessons.
