This article focuses on using inquiry to help students see the affect they have on the water sources around them. It provided a step by step process to teach students and provides advice for different learners or classrooms. While it first suggests to have students design their own experiments to test how ground cover affects surface runoff and it then suggests to give students the model they would be using. I think this could be changed to have students test it using their own designs if you have the time. Overall this article is extremely informative and provides examples to describe each piece of the inquiry. Students are also able to visible see the the difference between the amount of runoff and the amount of recharge. The text also offers valuable extension pieces to use after the first inquiry is competed. I believe this is a great experiment to complete with all grades to allow for students to see the importance of their actions and the affect they have on the environment.
