Terrific investigation which utilizes NOAA online air pollution data. Four individual investigations build upon each other to develop student understanding of their relationship to pollution. Students are required to read maps to determine pollution sources in their state and to use real-time data to track polluted air masses. Although this activity is rather limited in inquiry, it does develop process skills and creates understanding of air pollution through concrete activities. This would be a useful way to introduce air pollution and wind patterns to your students.
