Science sampler: Before- , during-, and after-reading strategies

While students are at school, they mostly receive reading instruction during language arts classes and the focus is usually on fiction. Try these simple and effective strategies to facilitate successful nonfiction reading in science. The inability to read well impairs the student's ability to understand scientific principles. We can increase our students' success across the curriculum if we work together to achieve the goal of literacy.
