Experiment Design: Preparing Experimental Designs

by: John Haysom

This chapter focuses on turning cooking into a science. A cookie recipe is shared with students along with a list of questions to consider. Students are also invited to develop the recipe. If scientists were given a recipe to develop, they would turn it into an experimental procedure that could be followed again and again and produce the same results. This procedure would become the control experiment. Although cooking can be turned into a science, it is not easy because there are so many variables to identify. Two science fair projects that involve a large number of variables are included in this chapter.
