What's Wrong With Me, Doc? Analyzing Medical Records

by: Nicole H. Maller

This chapter focuses on a residency program at Vanguard Hospital. The students are asked to analyze four patients’ medical records containing their symptoms, lifestyle habits, and family medical histories. With respect to privacy, these records are to be discussed solely with the team. Once the team has developed a hypothesis for each patient, it is recorded on the medical chart. The medical charts will play a vital role in the final diagnosis, so detail is important, as well as the evidence as to why it's believed each patient has the suggested health condition. For more information on how to implement the activities discussed here, please see the Teacher Edition.
