If STEM Is an Opportunity, What Is the Federal Government's Role?

by: Rodger W. Bybee

This chapter presents five policy recommendations for the Federal Government, and is a response to a federal mandate to review STEM initiatives across federal agencies and coordinate, if not consolidate, various programs. The chapter provides an opportunity for the author to make recommendations at the national level as the remainder of the book addresses the state, district, and school levels. These recommendations are followed by a general discussion of the federal role in improving STEM education.
