As a pre-service teacher getting ready to start my student teaching experience in the Spring, I was really impressed to find an interactive E-Book that provided me with a more concrete understanding of the interdependence of life. In writing a recent lesson plan on animal adaptations for the third grade class I had been observing this semester, I found this E-Book to be highly beneficial in strengthening the connections that I had previously built regarding the content found within this interactive learning experience. I was able to use this resource to refresh and rebuild connections from years past, in order to create a successful lesson plan for teaching this topic to young students. This was a fantastic resource for doing so, as this interactive learning experience was beneficial in the process of preparation for creating my lesson plan. This E-Book goes beyond surface-level coverage of the key ideas of this topic, the subtopics included, and the connections between differing aspects of the interdependence of life. Along with the in-depth discussion of each subtopic, this resource provided a variety of interactive activities and experiences in order to enhance the learning process. Among those included in this E-Book, there were videos, animations, images, interactive simulations, and assessment checks throughout the learning experience to maintain engagement, as well as to check for understanding. I would strongly recommend this interactive E-Book to anyone looking to do any of the following: enhance their personal knowledge regarding a variety of subtopics regarding the interdependence of life, refresh or check their knowledge of this topic, achieve mastery of the content as an educator, or for personal academic development. I am a college student completing my methods semester before I begin student teaching. I used this E-Book as a source to create a lesson plan for third grade students on ecosystems. This textbook gives you an abundance of in depth information on organisms in their environments, species relationships, population balance in biomes, and agents of change in ecosystems. It gives the reader opportunities throughout the text to test their knowledge with short quizzes, and there is also a great tool at the end of the book called the final assessment. The final assessment is a great tool that teachers could use as a challenge feature to test or quiz their students to get a good idea of the information students learned from reading this text. I think this text is extremely engaging and does an excellent job implementing interactive features that I think will really help students and support them in learning this information. This is a great source to use, and I highly recommend it to any educator!

I am a pre-service teacher in my junior year of college, and I used this E-book to help me create a lesson plan all about ecosystems and how they support organisms. This E-book was very informative about a variety of topics that are interwoven together. For example, I read the E-book with a specific topic in mind (ecosystems), and by the time I was finished I wanted to tie together more concepts, such as populations, because the book showed me how well these topics were related. The E-book was engaging as well, making it a fun read because it has color pictures and images that you can click on and interact with. I felt that I digested the information in this E-book well because it incorporated spots to "check you thinking," as well as review questions to help you gauge how well you understood the material. The end of the E-book also talks about the key ideas included in the text and what the learner should be able to do to provide evidence of their understanding. I really liked the "Evidence for Understanding" portion of this book because I could translate these into questions and activities I could do with my students in the classroom to make sure they understand the material that I taught them from this E-book. The final assessment that you can take after you read through the E-book is a great comprehension check for yourself, and you also could utilize some of those questions on a test for your students after you taught the material to them! I recommend this E-book because it gives you a healthy background knowledge about populations, ecosystems, biomes, and so on. I love that it is on the NSTA website because I trust the information I am reading, so I know I will be able to teach my students information they can count on being true and relevant. Definitely read this E-book if you are looking to gain more knowledge about interdependence and if you want to really process the information you are reading through interactive features

I am currently a pre-service teacher in my junior year of college. I originally completed this e-book for an assignment, and I ended up finding it very helpful to me. The assignment required me to teach a lesson about animal adaptations to a group of my peers. It had been a while since I learned about that in school, and this book gave me the refresher that I needed on the topic. It allowed me to make sure I was putting accurate and relevant information into my lesson plan to teach. The book itself was very informational, it gave many great examples as well as images and diagrams. It was also very engaging. I really liked all of the interactive aspects like the games and checkpoint questions throughout the book and it was very easy to navigate. These elements made reading it a lot more bearable for me, unlike with traditional textbooks. I would definitely recommend this interactive e-book, and any of the interactive e-books for any teacher or pre-service who is looking to expand their background knowledge prior to creating a science lesson!

I am a pre-service teacher in my Junior year of college. For an assignment, I completed a lesson plan about adaptation in a general sense. I struggled with what to include and what not to include in my lesson as adaptation is such a broad concept. Let me tell you, this book was SO much help and I could absolutely see myself using it in an elementary school classroom in the future! Not only was the information presented in an engaging way, with pictures and examples, but also the interactive pieces of the book were simple to navigate and helpful for comprehension. While the language in this book may be a bit sophisticated for elementary school students, the information is easily adaptable and helped me as a teacher plan a lesson as best as I could. Additionally, the interactive pieces helped me plan helpful comprehension questions to guide my discussion about adaptation to the students. I think now more than ever, it is important to engage students in interactive online readings, rather than readings. Even as an adult, I struggle to keep focus with online readings, however, an interactive E-book like this helps students (and teachers) be engaged and focused during online readings! It helps ensure comprehension with the "check-in" quizzes and chapter quizzes at the end of each chapter; it ensures the reader is on track to understanding the book. Overall, I loved what this E-book added to my lesson and would absolutely recommend the use of this book to any pre-service or in-service teachers!

I'm currently a pre-service teacher in my senior year of college. I taught a science lesson that talked about pollination and how pollinaotrs and plants are dependent of each other. This E-book was very helpful because it gave me insight of how organisms interact with the ecosystem, and how different organisms have different relationships with the environment and each other. This gave me a lot of background knowledge for me to teach my lesson! This book was very engaging and interactive because there were many fun and interactive activities in each section of the book. I would definitely recommend reading this interactive e-book, and incorporating interactive e-books into the classroom!

I am currently a pre-service teacher in my junior year of college. I completed this EBook originally for an assignment, but I ended up finding it very helpful and engaging. Before I taught the lesson, this book gave me a great insight of how organisms in an ecosystem survive, how they interact with their environment, and the relationships between each organism. This book was extremely informative, gave great examples, provided detailed and easy to understand diagrams and models, and showed high-quality and defined pictures. I could definitely see how this interactive book would be fun for younger students and beneficial to their learning. This experience for students would allow them to stay actively engaged and involved as they participate in mini quizzes at the end of each section, are able to interact with the models and diagrams, and assess their understanding through the post-test. This is a great resource and I'm so glad I was able to expand my knowledge on this topic, but also see how amazing interactive Ebooks can be. I cannot wait to use more of these interactive Ebooks in the future with my students!

I am a pre-service teacher in my junior year of college. I completed this eBook for an assignment, however I found it to be extremely helpful! Biomes and animal diversity has always been one of my favorite topics and this eBook gave me so much great information. The activities would be so much fun to use in a classroom and really engaging for students. I think this will also be a great way to study for my PRAXIS exams.

I completed this eBook for a class assignment as an Elementary Education major and I think it will be a fantastic resource to use in my future classroom! All of the interactives were great additions and visuals for the eBook , and the quizzes were not too difficult to complete. The frequent little quizzes throughout were perfect for staying on task and providing more interaction through the eBook. There was an abundance of information for the interdependence of life and I would love to use this in my future classroom one day. I think my future students would really enjoy it and the amount of content is perfect for a complete unit on this subject.

I purchased this eBook for my classroom to use this year. After purchasing, I explored the e-Book and was amazed by the beauty of this product. The graphics are outstanding, the interactive modules and videos add an additional depth that really captures the students attention. This is not in anyway just a "digital" text book. It is a visual an intellectual experience. I implemented this e-book in my classroom, for the first time, this year. My students honestly love it. This book covers all of the content standards with life biology, your units are right there ready to go. The students are engaged and actually want to read! It has had a tremendous impact on test scores, and retention. My students are still able to recall what they learned, they recall images and video clips. It is a kinesthetic learning experience. I was so impressed with the first one that I purchased a second about cells, which is equally stunning. I can't wait to get the complete set and neither can my students! I highly recommend this product!

NSTA’s new eBook, the Interdependence of Life is a wonderful educational tool. I found it to be a comprehensive resource that covers four science objectives: “Organisms and Their Environments”, “Species Relationships”, “Population Balance in Biomes”, and "Agents of Change in Ecosystems”. I appreciated the fact that all of the lessons had audio to accompany the text. There were slideshows, animations, and “Hands-on-Activities”. There were also plenty of interactive simulations that I found to be very useful when I needed to demonstrate a concept and many of them were designed in a game-style format for the students to use. This eBook also included a “Search” button that allowed me to search for information using just a few key words. And the “Check Your Thinking”, found every few pages, provided my students the opportunity to answer discussion questions or short answer questions in more depth. The “Take Notice!” also alerted the student’s to facts that pertain to the lesson they were discussing that normally they might have missed or over-looked. Another great feature was the “Review What You Learned”. This feature provided my students, in a multiple-choice format, the opportunity to review the concepts they had just covered. At the end of the book, the correlation of the new NGSS standards, Science for All Americans, and Benchmarks for Science Literacy are discussed. I highly recommend this book to educators and students wanting an excellent and proven means to learn the content needed for curriculum and instruction about the Interdependence of Organisms in Earth’s Ecosystem.

This E-book was a wonderful resource. I couldn't believe all the information that was packed into this one source. The information was easy to follow and the interactive questions helped to ensure I was getting the most out of it. I found it to be easy to use and easy to understand. I haven't had a science class in some time, so this was a wonderful refresher.

I am a pre-service teacher in my junior year of college. I used this E-book to help me understand my topic for my lesson plan better. I did a lesson plan on adaptation and this E-book allowed me to see how species interact with ecosystems and how they support the species that live in them. I thought this E-book was interactive and helped ensure that I understood the topics through many methods such as the quizzes, visuals, and interactive diagrams. I definitely would recommend this E-book to anyone who needs accurate information about ecosystems. I would especially recommend this book for anyone who has trouble reading since they can grasp the concepts through the additional games and activities within the E-book that a traditional textbook would not have.

As a a pre-service teacher in my junior year of college, I chose to use this book for a lesson plan assignment. In my lesson I taught my peers about the characteristics of a habitat that are essential to an animal's survival. The book had a lot of useful information and was a great resource for my personal knowledge. The pictures were engaging and interesting. I was even able to use some of the pictures in my lesson plan. The one caution I would give people is to be wary of assigning it to students. The interactive checkpoint throughout the book were very easy to answer. The were based off of the readings and were pretty easy to use the text to figure out the right answer. However I found the final quiz much more difficult than the checkpoints. If you are assigning this textbook to students, I think it's a great tool but that you should do the final quiz as a partnered, small group, or whole group informal assessment. Some of the questions were really great and required some in depth thinking that would be good points of discussion.
