I use this interactive E-book to help me prepare for a lesson plan I was creating for class. This E-book helped me understand the concept of light better than I did. I thought the book was easy to read and understand. It was helpful that there are interactive acitives attached to book to help provide an visual.

I used this e-book as preparation for teaching the topic of light to 1st graders. This resource allowed me to prevent my students from getting more misconceptions and allowed me to understand the misconceptions they may already have. I was able to learn the proper scientific language to use with my students. I was even able to learn a few things myself. The interactive activities and mini quizzes kept me on track towards my goal of getting a good score on the assessment at the end. Overall a great read!

I really liked using NSTA and completing the sci-pack over Nature of Light. I feel like I learned a lot of valuable information that will help me in my future years as a teacher. I like how it breaks it up into each section. That makes it more simple and organized when completing each section. I also like how it gives you questions throughout the whole sci-pack to use as practice. I feel like this was good in preparing me for the assessment at the end of the sci-pack. I think NSTA is an overall great resource and I will definitely be using this website more often in the future as well!

This ebook was super informative. I learned a lot, and I really liked the breakdown of each topic. I think that the interactive activities throughout the ebook helped me further my understanding and physically see all of the different waves. I found this ebook very challenging, but it felt so good whenever I finished it. I felt a huge sense of accomplishment.

I loved this ebook! I originally picked it because I thought the topic was interesting and wanted to see how they broke down such an open topic that had so many subcategories - which they did incredibly! This ebook hit all the main highlights of light, including what it is, it's properties (it explained the debates of earlier times of if light was a particle or wave], and even passed through surface level descriptions of the typical way of learning the light spectrum/visible light by explaining concepts such as absorption and emission spectra and how natural rainbows are created (one of my favorite parts of the ebook). I think the most intriguing thing about the ebook is that there are so many opportunities to actually interact/engage in the concepts with little pop up simulations; such as that of measuring the angles of incidence and reflection. It truly helps students test their knowledge as a more visual form of quiz/informal assessment. The language of each slide is worded almost as a narrative, making the ebook pleasurable to go through, especially in the sense of relating it back to students' lives (such as when explaining why we see a blue sky or a red sunset). I believe even the 1-2 question reviews on these slides help as whoever goes through that part addressing some misconceptions as the 'Why is the sky blue' review question had lots of misconceptions for answers (including because it could have reflected from the oceans, etc.) Building off of that idea, a great deal of misconceptions are also placed in the 'Pedagogical Implications' sections of the teacher ebook which I found so beneficial since it actually lists research-based misconceptions students have within each category of light (according to the grade level you teach). There is also a strand map presented under the grade level selected in which is to help educators focus on three big things to instruct and visually show where connections can be made. In the grade 6-8 portion, which is the one I had selected, the three main concepts were: Wave Behavior and Electromagnetic Waves, Vision, and Models of Light - Wave models. Knowing this information can help educators prep their lessons or even pre-assessments to see what their students already know/any misconceptions they may have to engage in their learning. Overall, this was an incredible ebook that did a nice job explaining such a large topic. With simulations, review questions, and understandable wording - this ebook is sure to light up your light!

This interactive ebook was informative and useful as an Elementary Education major in a science education class! I referenced the information in this text often when creating a lesson on light for first graders, and can see it being a real asset to students in my future classroom. There are a number of subtopics included under the subject “Nature of Light”, therefore you are able to incorporate the information found these subtopics into a number of different units. Additionally, the information is so straightforward and easy to understand that you can vary the complexities of lessons for each grade. I appreciated how there were check-in questions on pages throughout each chapter, chapter quizzes, and an exam at the end of the book to test your knowledge. However, I give this ebook 4 stars because sometimes the check-in questions didn’t show up until I reloaded the page, and the culminating examination does not show you the questions you got wrong and right, nor the correct answers. Overall, it is a great reference and I am excited to use this text, as well as the graphics and interactive activities included in it in future lessons!
