This article offers amazing detail within the directions on how to complete a digital storytelling project with your students. As stated by the author, a digital storybook on a content relevant topic would be a great way to engage students in the study of nature through technology. Digital storytelling can be used in any science content area. So what is stated in this article applies to other areas of science as well. The authors article discuses using technology as a tool to provide or enhance student’s connection with nature. They choose digital storytelling as the way to help their students experience nature through a hands-on exploration approach. This activity requires the students to use technology to capture visual images, audio sounds, and add their own discourse as they tell their stories. The authors suggest several ways to initially engage their students with nature. They also provided a storyboard example, photography tips for the students, a digital editing process for creating a system to save students work, and a rubric for grading the digital-storytelling. The resources listed at the end of this article are very complete and would be very helpful for the teacher wanting to develop activities suggested by this article. This article would be excellent for grades three through high school and can be used for any content area.
