A collection must include an article, a resource for an activity, a webinar or video, and one other resource of your choice, all relating to a topic/standard for Life Science. My resource descriptions are in the suggested sequence.
I am using the resource "Archive: Science Update: Protecting the Elusive and Endangered Hawaiian False Killer Whale, December 2, 2021" as my webinar for Life Science. This webinar discusses the Hawaiian False Killer Whale and why it is endangered. This is useful for the 3rd grade Life Science Standards regarding habitat, habitat changes, and how the animals respond to habitat change. I am using the resource "Is It Made of Parts?" as my additional resource of my choice. This is an assessment that goes over animals and their parts for survival. This is useful for the second grade standard in life science regarding animal structures. The resource that I am using for my journal article is "Vibrating Insects". This article discusses insects that have structures that vibrate and the uses of those structures. This aligns with 2nd grade standards regarding structures of animals. I am using the journal article "Ecosystem in a Jar" for my activity resource. This journal article discusses how to make an ecosystem in a jar and how to sustain it. This is useful because third grade standards go over habitats and ecosystems and how they effect lifeforms in that habitat and ecosystem. I would modify this activity so that the teacher would create the only ecosystem and the teacher would be in charge of it, but the students would be observing and interacting under supervision. I suggest this due to age range of the students.
