Archive: Science Update: Sea Level Rise – What it is; Why it's such a problem; What we can do about it, April 7, 2022

Every day NOAA scientists, technicians, and engineers work to monitor, understand, and predict environmental threats facing our nation. Among the most serious of these is sea level rise. Rising sea levels are pushing deadly and destructive storm surges farther inland, and creating disruptive and expensive nuisance flooding in many U.S. coastal communities, affecting infrastructure and public patience.

In this web seminar you’ll learn why sea level rise is occurring, how NOAA and partner agencies are collecting the most up to date data to understand this issue, about sea level rise's impacts now and into the future, and more on products and services being developed to help communities plan and prepare for the next season, next year, and for decades to come.

All individuals receive a certificate of participation and 100 NSTA activity points for attending the live seminar and completing the end-of-program survey. A certificate of participation is not awarded for watching the recorded version of the program.
