Combining Materials

Author Post

Hello! I am teaching about combining materials and how you can combine different materials according to their different properties. Students will be able to create their own bridge according to the different properties of each material. Students are using their prior knowledge about matter and will be able to understand that when they combine materials they will be using materials in ways they are not usually used on their own. Students should be talking about the different properties and how it is better to place some materials as a basis.

My question is if there are any books that I could incorporate to this lesson about combining materials?

Thanks for the help!

Hi Damaris!

I'm not sure what grade level  you are currently teaching but I found some books on Epic.

Materials Engineering and Exploring Properties  by:  Robert Snedden,

Built to Last by:  Joanne Mattern,

Bridges and Tunnels  by:  Donna Latham  (Lots of project ideas),

3D Engineering Design:  Build Your Own Prototypes  by:  Vicki V. May,

Bridges  by:  Joanne Mattern.

I hope these resources can be of help to you!

Thank you very much for your help Lisa! I will take these books into consideration.
