Hello! I am a pre-service teacher at the University of Arkansas. I was wondering, does anyone know of any cool science products to purchase online and use for lessons? For example, I am aware of Glow Germ off of Amazon that is great for teaching about germs. I would like to start building a "library" of tools to use for lessons. Thank you!

Your students' parents are a great resource. After you figure out what kind of project or experiment you want to conduct, you can always email them for regular household supplies they might have laying around. Many parents would love to help their child's class out with donations. Even better if the parents work for a certain company that would like donate supplies as well. It never hurts to ask (in a polite and non-demanding/entitled manner of course)!

Hi Shelbie, This is an interesting topic - thank you for starting it. I look forward to reading other teacher's ideas. In the meantime, I thought I share with you a few journal articles with science lesson ideas around the topic of germs. The ideas below come from the Science and Children NSTA journal designed for elementary teachers. Take care, Flavio. http://common.nsta.org/resource/?id=10.2505/4/sc11_048_06_18 http://common.nsta.org/resource/?id=10.2505/4/tst12_079_07_68 http://common.nsta.org/resource/?id=10.2505/4/tst16_083_02_12 http://common.nsta.org/resource/?id=10.2505/4/sc12_050_01_24

Good morning, Steve Spangler products are pretty amazing, but can be pretty pricey. I love the Energy Stick that he offers. I use it to introduce circuits and conductors and insulators in 4th and 5th. Students love doing a human circuit! If you purchase more than one you can even have the students do a human series and parallel circuit!
