Hello! My name is Gianna DiNardo, and I am currently student teaching. I am going to teach my first science lesson soon on weather, making rain in a cup and seeing how rain breaks through the clouds. The students will be working with partners and they will have two cups, one with clear water and one with blue water, and in the clear water cup, I will put shaving cream on top and they will have to use pipettes filled with drops of the blue water to put onto the shaving cream to see how many drops it takes to get through the shaving cream, which represents the cloud. How do I make sure that my first grade students really understand that it takes more than a couple drops of water to break through a cloud?
